July 2026 Update

Heirloom tomatoes are at their peak, peaches, blackberries, blueberries, and melons keep coming in, and the produce aisle is as colorful as it gets all year. A few things to look forward to this month:

Summer Produce: Heirloom tomatoes, peaches, watermelon and melons, blackberries, figs, squash, shishito peppers, eggplant, okra, cucumbers, herbs, and local flowers steal the show. This is the best stretch of the year for local fruit — if you've only ever had grocery-store produce, a just-picked tomato or peach is a treat.

Purist Honey Pop-Up: We're hosting Purist Honey in the shop on Saturday, July 18th from 10am - 2pm. Purist Honey is raw, chemical-free honey from the biodiverse Piney Woods of East Texas — never heated, and lab-tested for both purity and antioxidant content, with the results published on their website. A seasonal, very limited product worth tasting in person. Stop by to try it while they are here.

Tim Laielli (@barefoodtim) Smoked Carnitas July Special

Some of you know Tim for his recipes. He's based in Dripping Springs and loves Mexican food. Together we made smoked carnitas: pasture-raised Yonder Way pork shoulder, smoked low and slow, then finished with orange, lime, jalapeño, garlic, and warm spices. It's a prepared dish, ready to heat — just warm it and pile it onto tacos or a rice bowl.

Featured Recipe from Chef Morgan Weeks

We sent our friend Chef Morgan Weeks a mystery "Chopped" box with one rule: turn it into a full meal. His box contained a porterhouse pork chop, summer squash, Rosie's tallow chips, candied pecans, and smoked paprika. With those ingredients he built three dishes:

• Fire-Roasted Squash with Smoked Paprika Yogurt
• Rosie's Tallow Chips with Paprika Honey Glaze, Prosciutto & Brie
